Illustrator : Free Transform Tool How To Use Tutorial

Transcript:

How to use the free transform tool in Illustrator? I’m using CC 220 select that design. Once you’ve selected all of those designs there what you can do, you can go to the free transform tool and you can distort it and transform it in a number of ways. There’s the free transform tool and you’ll. See what you get, you get three tools. There’s also another option of constrained, constrain just controls the angle, just make certain it just goes 45 degrees, 90 degrees, etc to be honest. I rarely use that, but it’s there. If you want to constrain it, so the first one is free transform and what you can do, you can rotate. You can scale and you can also slant or share the design. I think you might say scale. It and all of them will be scaled. You can also go to the bounding box and the middle points. You can then slant the design, which is quite useful. There’s also an option for perspective, distort as well that creates a nice perspective, not particularly in terms of if you got like one two point perspective, it’s fine just creates a very basic, but you’ve got no control of where you point. It just goes off particular direction, and that’s that you can’t make a certain point as the position to go to. And the last one is free, distort, free distort means you can freely distort the design and just simply go to the top of the bounding box and distort it. Just move it baton bores. You make it look like it’s going off into a three-dimensional space and you can select the bounding box and you can also continue to rotate. You can also use a constrain. I’m just going to use it with another shape. Oops, select too many shapes out. Just select that one and what you can do. You can do exactly the same as before and go to the free transform tool and transform that design, and you can, of course transform a single shape as well as multiple shapes like this. So again, you go to free distort and you can distort the design, so you can angle it in particular ways. Create some interesting effects, and, of course, what you can do, you can select an individual part of that and apply the free, distort or perspective to store etc to that shape. And, of course, you go and select on the other shapes as well if you wish, and you can continue to apply the free transform and distorts etc to that now, you can also use time as well to distort. Sadly, you have to expand the type. You can’t use it with just normal type, so you can’t just distort it and then continue to edit the text. That’s some type there, so first thing do go up to the object menu and expand. So if you try and do the free distort just cliche, it will not work so close your object and expand click. OK, now you can go up to those controls, and you can use the free transform you can use the perspective distort and also the free distort as we’ll free, distort there. I’m using the free transform first. So you can see you just rotate it pretty normal. I’m just using some 3d as well, so I’ve just added a 3d effect by the styles and you can rotate it now. You can also go, of course to the other ones as well spective to store, and you can apply a perspective distort again, creating a nice perspective effect with that 3d taste, but the control is fairly limited in terms of perspective, and you can also go to the last one, which is the free distort and you can distort the type in numerous ways, so you can squeeze out crate all kinds of different designs, and, of course you could change the 3d effect or maybe use any of the other styles like brushstrokes, etc. So that’s the free transform tool. I’ve use a fairly limited set of shapes, but of course you can use it with all kinds of other much more complicated shapes than that. Hope you found this tutorial interest.
