Hello, today! I’m going to show you how to trace this car using the pen tool. If you would like to follow along, feel free to download this file. I included a link to it In the description below first open a new document next go to file place, find the downloaded image and click place now click on the top left corner and your image should fit into this document. Next, go to layers, lock this layer and create a new layer. Let’s get rid of the fill and change the stroke to blue. We will start our path from the top left corner to see it better. Let’s zoom in on it, and now we are ready to trace press the letter. P of the pen tool or select it from the toolbar panel notice the pen tool cursor has an asterisk next to it, indicating that you are ready to begin a new path single. Click on this corner to set the first anchor point of your path. Now move over to this point and single click again to finish the first straight segment next single, click on this corner to draw a short straight segment, then click on this one and the top one. Now press and hold down the spacebar. And when you see the cursor changing to a hand, click on the artboard hold and drag to reposition your artwork. Then release your mouse. You can notice that the pen tocar cell still looks the same, indicating that you are ready to continue your path. The next segment has a slight curve to it to draw this one. First, click on the next corner. Hold and drag try to match the profile of this car as close as you can. The next segment is a straight short segment. If I click on the next point, I will get this curve. Let’s undo it to draw a straight segment after a curved segment first press and hold down the Alt key and then click on this anchor point to delete the right handle. Now click on this point to draw a straight segment and we’ve got another straight segment single. Click where you want the next segment to end now pressing down the spacebar click on the artboard hold and drag to reposition it single, click to get another straight segment and again next, we’ll draw a curved segment first find the highest point of the next curve. Now click on it, hold and drag, always drag in the direction you are drawing and single. Click where you want. This curved segment to end now single, click to draw a straight segment and again and again and so on lets. Move this page again. The next segment is a curved segment so like before find the highest point, click on it, hold and drag while dragging your mouse press and hold down the shift key to constrain it and single. Click where you want this curved segment to end. Let’s zoom in on this part, you can notice that this curve doesn’t follow the profile of the wheel to change it first press and hold down the Alt key and then click on this handle, hold and drag to reposition it. Now release the mouse and then release the key. Notice that the pen tool cursor now has an asterisk next to it to continue the path. Just click on the end point of the existing path. The next segment is a very small, curved segment so like before click on the highest point hold and drag and single. Click where you want the segment to end. Let’s zoom out. Switch to the pen tool and click on the end of the existing path to continue now single click on the next corner to draw a straight segment and one more click to get another straight segment lets. Move the page next. We’ll draw a curved segment. Find the highest point, click, hold and drag and single. Click where you want the segment to end to reposition the curve press and hold down the Alt key. Click on the left. Handle, hold and drag. Let’s zoom in. Switch to the pen tool and click on the end of the existing path to continue single click to get a straight segment again and again now click hold and drag to get a curve hold down the Alt key and click on the anchor point to convert it to a corner point. Now click, hold and drag single, click, click, hold and drag single, click again, click, hold and drag and click on the beginning. Anchor Point to finish the path. Now, let’s go over our path to check it for any imperfections. Let’s zoom in on this area. Press the letter. A for the direct selection tool or select it from the toolbar panel next drag a box around this anchor point to select it with the Bezier handles visible press and hold down the Alt key, then click on this handle, hold and drag to reposition it. Let’s check out the other anchor points. Looks like there is a tiny gap over here. Drag a box around with anchor point. Click on it, hold and move it down. Just a little bit with the direct selection tool, still selected press and hold down the Alt key and click on voice your handle, hold and drag to readjust the curve and check the other anchor points and readjust them if needed when you are done, zoom in on the windows and let’s trace them as well switch to the pen tool and let’s start from this corner Single. Click to set the first. Anchor Point single, click again and single click just before the corner. Let’s zoom in switch to the pen tool and click on the end of the existing path to continue. Now click hold and drag to get a curve try to add as few anchor points as possible. Click, hold and drag to get another curve and click to finish the path. Let’s trace the other window. Now zoom out to see the whole page. If you like you can select everything. Get rid of the stroke and change the fill to a different color. Now select the windows and change their fill to a different color as we’ll find me turn off the visibility of the bottom layer. Thanks for watching bye bye.
